CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills

This course is designed for those who are wanting to explore the subject of counselling and caring. The course utilises a variety of training methods and is designed to equip people with basic listening and responding skills that they can use in everyday life.

The course is designed for everyone and no prior experience is required. The minimum age requirement for students enrolling on the course is 16 years.

The course is recognised by the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) as a Level 2 Course in Christian Counselling and has secular recognition through the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). Students meeting the necessary internal and external assessment requirements will be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Counselling Skills (ICSK-L2), which is accredited into the National Qualifications Framework by the office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) accreditation number 100/2521/2.

Course Details

Students are required to produce a Course Work Portfolio which will include a Learning Review and a Self-Review - the Self-Review will be externally assessed by the CPCAB.

Homework involves some reading and a small amount of writing.

The course Tutors are experienced counsellors and trainers with the Light House.

N.B. The course will contain some Christian content and teaching.

Dates

The course is normally delivered in Coventry at least once a year September to December, by Light House training staff. The course normally runs on ten  evenings between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. For dates of the next courses to be run, see the  Latest Training News page.

Trainers are available to run it in other neighbouring areas on request and the material can also be made available to other Christian counselling organisations and churches under a franchise agreement subject to the availability of suitably qualified trainers.  See the main Training page for more details about Franchising of training material.
